Hi all,
I’m the owner of two oldish wooden GPs 4856 and 6577. I’m partway through the refurbishment of 6577 which is a 1967 boat built by R&R Sills. The older of the two boats came with an aluminium mast and boom which I intend to put in the later boat. My problem is that I’m not sure how I should go about sorting out the rigging,as in the older boat the mast was held by shrouds attached to shroud plates and on the later boat there are purpose made holes for the shrouds to pass through before terminating at a multi position fitting screwed to the forward seat knee.I could try swapping the shrouds over but am not sure if the hounds would be in the same place on each mast also the boat I want to fit the alloy mast to has a plain square mast step.
If any one has either advice or photos of the internal fit out of suitably old boats I’d be grateful as there are several fittings and holes for same that I’m not sure about.
Thanks in anticipation,
Nick Jones.
