Does anyone have any experience of actually using the Mantus Dinghy Anchor? I ask because I am currently advising a new owner on fitting out his GP14 for cruising.

It looks like a smaller clone of the Rocna and Manson Supreme, and weight for weight I would therefore expect that it might have a similarly impressive performance – provided of course that the design gets the angles and the balance of weight right. If the website is to believed, indeed it does. However when it first appeared, in 2019, the only size offered was 0.9 kg, and I question whether that is large enough for a GP14.
But on looking it up again today I see that there are now more suppliers available, and a range of larger sizes.
Normally for a GP14 I would think in terms of 2 kg for a working anchor, or 4 kg for a storm anchor, provided one is using adequate warp and a length of chain between warp and anchor. So the Mantus choice of 1.1 kg seems a little light, and the 3.6 kg seems larger and heavier than one needs for normal use, although very reasonable for severe conditions.
Has anyone actually used one; and if so what views do you have of it?
Thanks,
Oliver
