I have read this exchange with interest, as I am in a similar situation to the original poster. I have put reefing points in a cruising mainsail and I now need to switch my halyard to all rope, as it is currently wire with the cord leader. I think that this will mean the tensioning rack on the mast is redundant. Do you have a recommendation for type and placement of a new fitting to secure the halyard in that case? Or is it feasible to use a loop in the end of a rope halyard on the rack (it seems like it might roll off the teeth)?
I am also interested in mounting fittings for anchoring (it’s a plywood boat) and perhaps there is already a forum thread about that?
