ParticipantI have been trying to replace my launching trolley for four months, using the same supplier as the original, Mersea trailers. The ‘sales’ lady has strung me yarn for this time, and told me numerous times it is in production and will be in the post in three days, but clearly not, as the next week it has not being made. My old trolley has now given up completely, mid summer. Can any one help please and recommend a reliable company. I cannot recommend Mersea/West Mersea/Snipe- these are all the same company it seems, after my experiences.

ModeratorChris Brown Trailers, at http://www.cbcoverstore.co.uk, produces a combi trailer which appears very similar to the West Mersea ones. When I collected GP14 no. 3 (no less) for eventual restoration I bought one of his launching trolleys, on his assurance that it would fit my West Mersea roadbase, which it duly did.
My experience of it is limited, as it has been used thus far only to transport the boat home and to store her pending work, but it appears to be well made and to be dimensionally fully compatible with the West Mersea product.
At least it would be worth your while enquiring from them.

ParticipantThanks Oliver, that is really helpful. I cannot believe that Mersea trailers have messed me about so long, and that I left it 4 months before putting this post on the GP14 website. The forum is great putting in touch people with good advice and those like me obviously needing it.
Stephen.

Participant2nd for Chris Brown!
number 7 had one of his first GP14 trailers. He did offer when I bought it that if I had a road base already he’d make sure it fitted, but as I did not he said fine. So I guess there is a little ‘give’ in where the mountings can be
but I ordered it and it was ready for collection earlier than he said aswell!!! and a really Nice bloke!

InactiveFollowing on from the experience above I spent 2 months trying to get a new trolley from Mersea to match my trailer. They told me 2- 3 weeks delivery in October via Hartleys. Two months later, and repeatedly having to chase them, I had to cancel when they told me they had no mould to make the cradles. Went to Mr Brown as above and the trolley was available in 2 weeks and fitted first time.
