The International GP14 Class Association and Bassenthwaite Sailing Club cordially invite GP14 sailors to a
GP14 Cruising and Boat Handling Weekend
– Thursday 22 August – Monday 26 August
This will run along with other bank holiday activities and social events at the club.
Join as for as few or many days as you wish!
Should you wish to join the fun, please advise the GP14 office so we can let Bassenthwaite SC know how many will be coming
Camping
The club site is open for camping for a full 4 nights from Thursday 22 August to Monday 26 August.
Tents, caravans and camper vans all welcome.
Camping costs only £25 for the entire weekend which includes use of club changing rooms, showers, washing-up and waste recycling facilities and amazing views of the surrounding fells and Bassenthwaite Lake
Sailing
Thursday 22 Aug – 19.15 club racing. You will be welcome to sail alongside members of the home GP14 fleet
Friday 23 Aug – Free sailing without rescue
Saturday 24 Aug – Pick from:
Boat set-up – 1030 -1200
On-water boat handling – 1200-1330
Club racing – 1430 (2 races)
Free sailing– 1430 -1600
Sunday 25 Aug – Cruise down the lake and afternoon tea at nearby Dodd Wood Cafe
Monday 26 Aug – Free sailing
Sailing costs £10 per boat per day

Saturday 24 Aug – Charity Vintage Tea
Sunday 25 Aug – BBQ night – bring you own food and cook it on the club BBQ with the Bass SC members
Nearby
Cockermouth is about 6 miles away and has supermarkets plus some very good local butchers and eating out options. The Pheasant Inn is within walking distance of the club and has a popular bistro, and great public bar. The Sun Inn in Bassenthwaite village serves good food and Jennings ale.
The Lakes Distillery is ½ mile away, offers tours, is noted for the food – including afternoon tea – it serves in its café & bistro and their Vodka just voted best independent Vodka in the World!
If you want posh visit Armathwaite Hall 1 mile away and book a spa treatment, take a dip in the pool or have afternoon tea.
An ice cream van visits the site regularly during camping week-ends. There are some great walks on the doorstep.
