Packing for Barbados

32 boats packed at Aldridge

Packing GP14s at AldridgeWow what a day! All the containers arrived earlier than their designated time and so packing started at 8.30 am. Many thanks to RMD Kwikform, as the site made for very easy admin and loading under cover on a high loading bay was a bonus, minimising lifting. Pictures seem to deny that, but it was true. At one point I did wonder how many more men one could get in a container with lifters, strappers at the far end apparently with no room to crawl out. Have we lost anybody, I ask? Has anyone lost a husband? If so he is on his way to Portsmouth and Barbados – some people will do anything to get there early! Nick Booth and Hayley Ramadhar were sitting like gnomes stringing wheels together and letting down tyre pressures, a bit like making bead necklaces. No incidents were recorded and all four containers were seen safely on their way.

All 32 boats were packed safely by 14.30 and relief all round. My thanks must go to the Racking and Packing team who have worked so hard. Still 2 more weeks to go boys.
